Wei “Wesley” Su

Ph.D. Wuhan University of Technology, 2017. Advisor: Prof. Francis Verpoort.
Postdoctoral Researcher, Nanjing University, 2018-2020. Advisor: Prof. Congqing Zhu.
Research Assistant Professor, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), 2020-2022. Advisor: Prof. Qing Ye.
Wei (Wesley) Su
earned his B.S. degree in material chemistry at Wuhan University of Technology, majoring in engineering of glasses, ceramics and cements. In 2017, he received his Ph.D. degree from the same institute under supervision of Prof. Francis Verpoort, studying molecular water oxidation catalysts. During this period, he discovered the beauty of organometallics. Consequently, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the chemistry of molecular f-block complexes (with a particular emphasis on uranium) at Nanjing University and SUSTech, respectively. In March 2023, Wei joined the Demir group at Michigan State University. Here, he will pursue uranium complexes comprising U-E multiple bonds, especially those of the heavy p-block elements. When you cannot find Wei at the glovebox, check the crystal lab! Otherwise, his other hobbies are traveling and playing with dogs (Iggy Pugliese pictured right). Wei has visited dozens of parks and monuments in China!
